Any atom will have a net positive charge if it loses electrons (the negative particles in the atom). The reason is the atom now has more protons (positive charges) than electrons (negative charges) so it becomes a positive ion. Although, through various processes, many different atoms can be stripped of one or more electrons and thus take on a positive charge, the elements on the left side of the Periodic Table, in the first two columns, are the ones that tend to give up electrons during chemical reactions so they are positive ions; also called cations in ionic bonding.
When an atom loses electrons it will have a net positive charge and is would be called a cation. The word "ion" could also be used to describe an atom that has a net positive charge.
An atom that has a positive charge is called a cation(cat-ion) and an atom that has a negative charge is called an anion (an-ion).
An atom witch is charged positively is an atom containing more protons then electrons.
An atom witch is charged negatively is an atom containing more electrons then protons
A charged atom/molecule is called an ion. A positive ion is a cation, and a negative ion is an anion.
A positively charged atom is a cation (pronounced cat-eye-on).
An atom with positive charge is cation.
An atom with negative charge is anion.
These are ions: positive (cations) and negative (anions).
None of them in a "normal" state.
Ion
The proton of an atom carries the positive charge.
protons have positive charge
The nucleus of an atom carries a positive charge. The negatively charged electrons orbiting the nucleus more or less balances out the positive charge.
Protons are positive Neutrons are neutral and electrons are negative. the electrons are also in the electron clouds. the protons and neutrons of an atom are in the nucleus.
Positive
Proton
an atom has a positive charge due to the fact that it has a positive
Proton.
An atom with positive charge is cation. An atom with negative charge is anion.
Protons of an atom carry a positive charge. Electrons carry a negative charge. Neutrons carry no charge at all, but they are part of the atom.
The proton of an atom carries the positive charge.
nucleus has a positive charge. net charge of an atom (not an ion!) is 0.
Positive charge: cationNegative charge: anion
Ion... Anion, negative charge... Cation, positive charge
An ion is an atom with a positive or negative charge.
no. electrons have negative charge. protons have positive charge
The positive charge of an atom is located in the nucleusin the form of protons.
