Baralime (also sometimes spelled 'baralyme') is a mixture of barium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide with a color indicator mixed in. It absorbs carbon dixoide. We anesthesiologists use it in the anesthesia machine to suck up the CO2 from exhaled air in a closed-circuit anesthesia machine.

Baralime is a chemical compound of barium oxide and lime (calcium oxide) used in the removal of carbon dioxide from air or gas mixtures. It reacts with carbon dioxide to form insoluble barium carbonate.
