Analysis of circular polarization (CP) utilizes two independent, orthogonal, components: right- and left-hand circular (RHC and LHC). The desirable component, having the intended sence of rotation (right, or left), is called the copolarization component. The undesirable component, with the opposite polarization, is called the crosspolarization component. The mix of copolarization and crosspolarization components determine the quality of CP and
correlates with the axial ratio.
