Most metal oxides react with dilute acids.The reaction between an insoluble metal oxide and a dilute acid is often quite slow so it is possible to observe the progress of the reaction as the solid reactant disappears as a soluble product is formed. Hence to enhance the speed of the reaction, excess Copper Oxide is used in preparing Sulphate Salt.

It is simply because they could not be found together!! copper can be estimated by treating with potassium iodide and iodine will be liberated in the reaction which is titrated against sodium thiosulphate during the reaction we will add sulphuric acid to prevent the hydrolysis of copper sulphate and we follow by, adding ammonia to neutralize sulphuric as it may hinder the reation between iodide and copper!! now again we will add acetic acid to neutralize ammonia.. and the indicator is added at the last because it will get absorbed with the iodine!! now atlast we add ammonium, thiocyanate to prevent the excess of iodine getting added to copper iodide. end point is disappearance of blue color.
you can add more H2SO4 to complete the reaction you can add water and then by filtration
put some tomato. that will dilute the curry and balance the salt level by karunaidoss.

When excess zinc metal is used in a reaction, it can be removed by simple filtration, as long as the particles are big enough. If the zinc particles are too small to be removed by filtration, other techniques such as centrifugation must be employed.

The "excess" metallic copper produced by adding zinc metal to a copper sulfate solution comes from exchanging zinc atoms from the metal for copper atoms from the copper sulfate solution. During the reaction, the zinc atoms are ionized to cations and the copper cations from the solution are reduced to neutral atoms.
Take a cupful of water in a beaker and add few drops of dilute sulphuric acid. Heat water. When it starts boiling add copper sulphate powder slowly while stirring continuously. Continue adding copper sulphate powder till no more powder can be dissolved. Filter the solution. Allow it to cool. Do not disturb the solution after some time.
