"Oligosaccharide" is a carbohydrate molecule made up of a few simple sugar units (monosaccharides) linked together. They are shorter than polysaccharides but longer than simple sugars like glucose or fructose. Oligosaccharides play a role in cell recognition and communication in cells and are found in many foods like beans, onions, and whole grains.
