Saxitoxin is a potent neurotoxin produced by certain species of marine dinoflagellates. It can cause paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) in humans if consumed through contaminated shellfish. Symptoms of PSP include nausea, tingling, numbness, and potentially respiratory paralysis.
