Ozone formation is a chemical process which can be brought about by various methods:

1. Corona discharge method : Oxygen in air is sparked with a corona discharge and gets converted into ozone.

2. UV radiation : Oxygen when treated with narrow band UV light forms ozone.

UV radiation is the method how ozone layer was formed naturally.

Ozone a triatomic molecule containing three atoms of oxygen. It is generally formed on high altitudes because of the action of the high energy ultraviolet radiations which break the oxygen molecule into nascent oxygen which on further reaction with oxygen molecule form a single molecule of ozone. Moreover ozone is also formed in the nature during the process of lightning.

Reaction of the formation of ozone?

Some energy is released, as O binds to O2.

What is the minimum amount of energy needed to start a chemical reaction?

activation energy ( I know it is right because it is in my science book)

How long does ozone stay in the atmosphere?

Ozone is a very unstable molecule. The energy required of formation of ozone is much greater than the reverse process that is the formation of oxygen and nascent oxygen. However there is an ongoing process of formation as well as depletion in the ozone layer which makes its concentration in the ozone layer constant. However due to the CFC's the rate of depletion is increasing thus creating an ozone hole in the ozone layer.

Which compound is involved in the formation of ozone?

UV is associated for ozone formation. It is the radiation of the sun.

Does the ozone layer contribute to the formation of smog?

No. The ozone layer has no effect on the formation of smog.

How ozone formation?

Ozone formation is a chemical process. When oxygen is treated with UV radiations oxygen gets converted into ozone.

What is the formation for the ozone?

Ozone formation is a chemical process. When oxygen is treated with UV radiations oxygen gets converted into ozone.

What do Halons and CFC s do to the ozone A inhibit ozone formation B cause ozone formation in the troposphere C destroy ozone in the stratosphere D cause excess ozone formation in the stratosphere?

Halons and CFC s both destroy ozone in the stratosphere.

What happens when higher energy ultraviolet radiations act on the oxygen at the higher level of the atmosphere?

formation of ozone

What is it called when energy is required to start a chemical reaction?

An exergonic reaction is activation energy (or energy of activation). An endergonic reaction is essentially the opposite of an exergonic reaction.

What compound when present in the troposphere is involved in the formation of ozone?

Oxygen is the main element. It is the reason for ozone formation. The ozone is a triatomic form of oxygen.

What weather contributes to the formation of bad ozone?

Weather contributes to the formation of bad ozone. Thunder causes oxygen molecule to change into ozone.
