The polyatomic ion chromate is CrO4-2 and silver cations usually exist as Ag+1. The proper chemical formula for silver chromate is Ag2CrO4. However, Ag is known to exist as the Ag+2 and Ag+3 ions, and there are plenty of Ag+2 compounds that are commercially available. Therefore, silver chromate should be named Ag(I) chromate in my opinion to avoid any confusion since I've seen silver chromate incorrectly written as AgCrO4.
