Universal Indicator turns concentrated HCl red because Universal Indicator turns strong acids reds.
The colour that soloution has formed suggests that the liguid is Highly acidic and is around the pH factor of 1-3
The colour of nitric acid on the universal indicator is red.In the event you work around nitric acid, please heed these warnings: STRONG OXIDIZER. CONTACT WITH OTHER MATERIAL MAY CAUSE FIRE. CORROSIVE. LIQUID AND MIST CAUSE SEVERE BURNS TO ALL BODY TISSUE. MAY BE FATAL IF SWALLOWED OR INHALED. INHALATION MAY CAUSE LUNG AND TOOTH DAMAGE.
the pH for washing up liquid is 9.4 on the pH scale
You can use indicators (liquid or paper). Universal Indicators (UI) are the best, as with them you can tell if something is acid, neutral or alkali, depending on the colour (there will be a colour indicator). However, you can also use red and blue indicator, but they are less accurate, as although they might be acid (or alkali), they might be neutral as well, so I suggest you use UI. Hope this helps :) Source: Science lessons!

Water is NOT Universal Indicator. Water is often referred to as a Universal Solvent as a large number of substances are soluble in it. Universal Indicator is a chemical agent that can be used to test the pH of a liquid.
We measure pH by using a pH scale which has different colours on it which indicates the liquid. Universal indicator is a pH indicator that transitions through numbers 1- 14 (on a pH chart) to indicate the acidity or alkali of solution. A pH meter is an electric instrument used to measure the pH of a liquid which might be an acid neutral or an alkali. and there is my answer Lewis Jones park community school lots of substances change colour at specific pH values, so you have to use a colour chart for that specific substance. Universal indicator is a mixture of lots of different indicators so it changes colour many times throughout the entire pH range, and you can compare it to the universal indicator colour chart to find how acidic or alkaline your substance is.
A universal indicator changes color in response to the pH of a liquid. Do determine the pH of the liquid, you need to refer to a color chart that tells you which color indicates which pH.

A pH indicator is used only to measure the pH of the solution.
You use Universal Indicator solution.
Just test it with universal litmus paper or universal indicator(liquid)
Universal Indicator tells you the acidity of any liquid by changing colour. Dark red implies strongly acidic, light orange means slightly acidic.
