By keeping one element the same and adding another in different amounts the process used today to find new substances was created. Their search for gold gave us brass and bronze. Adding different amounts of tin to copper. The smelting processes they used came from antiquity and are used today with modern trappings. Chemical processing was improved upon and passed along to us by the alchemists. Newton was an alchemist.

∙ 12y agoThe alchemists were the first chemists. But in addition to mixing chemicals, they also believed that magic would help with their experiments and formulas. It didn't. But their experiments led to the development of the science of chemistry.
