The gel strength is like polymer and has the tendency to misshape. If the strength of the gel is too high, the polymer will not hold enough water. If the gel strength is too low, the polymer will misshape too easily and the distant particles in the pad will absorb the liquid too fast, forming gel that blocks the liquid from getting to the center pad particles.
