The difference between a mixture and a solution is fairly subtle. A mixture is anything mixed together, for example, lemonade and cola mixed or shampoo and conditioner. When something is mixed, theoretically the two liquids could be separated again. In a solution, a chemical bond is formed between the molecules of the two liquids and they can not be separated by physical means, such as by a filter or centrifuge. In a mixture the components will retain their physical properties when combined. For example, a tossed salad is a mixture because, even though the lettuce and the dressing and the vegetables combine to make a salad, it is still clear what they individually are and they could, with some effeort, be separated out into piles of lettuce, tomato, and other ingredients.

What is a the major difference between a solution and an ordinary mixture?

A solution is a homogeneous mixture where the components are evenly distributed at the molecular level, while an ordinary mixture is a heterogeneous mixture where the components are not evenly distributed and can be easily separated. Solutions typically have a single phase and do not settle out upon standing, unlike ordinary mixtures.

What is the difference between a mixture and a solution?

A mixture is a combination of two or more substances that are physically combined but not chemically bonded. A solution is a type of mixture where one substance dissolves in another to form a homogeneous mixture.

What is the difference between a solution and a mixture?

A solution is a homogeneous mixture where the components are evenly distributed at a molecular level. A mixture, on the other hand, is a combination of substances that are physically combined but not chemically bonded.

What is the difference between a solute and a solution?

A solute is a substance that is dissolved in a solution. A solution is a mixture of a solute and a solvent, where the solute is evenly distributed throughout the solvent.

Difference between a solution and a mixture?

A solution is a homogeneous mixture where the components are uniformly distributed at a molecular level. A mixture is a combination of two or more substances that are physically combined and can be separated through physical means.

Is there a difference between a mixture and a solution?

the ingredients, types of things put in, of a mixture do not change the ingredients in solutions react with and alter each other chemically

What is the difference between a solution and a suspension in chemistry?

In chemistry, a solution is a homogeneous mixture where the solute is completely dissolved in the solvent, while a suspension is a heterogeneous mixture where the solute particles are suspended in the solvent and can settle out over time.

What is the differentiate of a mixture and a solution?

A mixture is a physical combination of two or more substances that are not chemically bonded. A solution is a homogeneous mixture where one substance dissolves in another. In a solution, the solute particles are dispersed uniformly in the solvent.

What is the difference between extracting and washing an organic solution?

Extracting an organic solution involves separating desired components from a mixture, while washing an organic solution involves removing impurities or unwanted substances from the solution.
