is it when you put two whole word together like: (whole-sale=wholesale)

---------------------

OR..... you have two or more elements combined into molecules of a substance that is solid rather than liquid or gas.

a solution is a mixture while a compound is a pure substance. thus, a solution melts or boils over a wide temperature range while a compound melts or boils sharply. a solution has varying composition while its components by physical means(e.g. distillation) while a compound can only be separated into its constituents by chemical mean (e.g. electrolysis and heating) thus, it is both homogeneous.
