All neutral atoms have no overall electric charge. In a neutral atom, the number of electrons equals the number of protons, and the charge balance means that there is no overall electric charge on the atom.

By losing or gaining electrons, atoms can become charged. In this case, the atoms will then have an overall charge, and they will be called ions.

As a blanket statement all atoms are electrically neutral if you add up their protons and electrons they should equal, when they dont that is a ion. a positively charged atom is a cation and a negatively charged atome is a anion. when an atom has a negative charge it has excess electrons.

(1.6x10*-19)x the atomic number of the atom. the charge depends on what atom you have (ps the answer is in coulombs)

What is the part of the atom that carries no electric charge?

The neutrons are the part of the atom that carry no electric charge. They are found in the nucleus. the protons carry a positive charge and the electrons carry a negative charge.

Where are neutrons located in an atom and what is the charge?

Neutrons have a neutral electric charge their name comes from this. Neutrons can be found in the nucleus. Most atoms nuclei will have both protons and neutrons in them. Neutrons are responsible for many istopes of elements eg carbon12 has 6 protons and 6 neutrons in its nucleus, and the isotope carbon 14 has 6 protons and 8 neutrons in its nucleus.

Where the nucleus of an atom consist?

the nucleas, is the center of an atom. It consists of two kinds of particles; Protons, and Neutrons. Protons have a positive electric charge, and Neutrons has a neutral (blank) electric charge. Every atom's nucleas has these two particles in them. The number of particles in a nucleas depends on what kind of atom.

What is the charge of just the nucleus of an atom?

The nucleus of an atom carries a positive charge. The negatively charged electrons orbiting the nucleus more or less balances out the positive charge.

What electrical charge does an atom's nucleus have?

The atom's nucleus is positively charged, with the number of positive charges being equal to the atom's atomic number. The nucleus contains positive protons and neutral neutrons making it positive. There are no negatives because electrons are not in the nucleus, but around the nucleus.

What Positive electric charge within the nucleus of an atom?

Positively charged particles in the nucleus of an atom are protons.

Which part of the atom is found in the center of the atom and has no electric charge?

A neutron has no electrical charge and is found in the nucleus of an atom.Alternate wording to an inexact question:If you are referring to the nucleus of an atom, there must always be at least one proton. So there has to always be a positive charge. The other component, the neutron, has no charge. The electrons orbiting the nucleus have the negative charge. So if no electrical charge is found in the nucleus, it is not an atom and therefore not a nucleus.

What part of the atom that carries no electric charge?

An atom that is not an ion has no electric charge. If it is particles that make up the atom you speak of, the nucleus houses the neutron; an elementary particle with zero charge.
