Astatine(As) is an halogen , however, such is its position in the Periodic Table. it could have some metal characteristics.
However, it is very radio-active with a very short half-life, as a consequence it is not fully characterised.
Tennessine is the next down the halogens, but is an artificial element, and again not fully characterised. However, its position in the periodic table could suggest it is a metalloid/semi metal or with metal charactertistics.
NB
Fluorine - gas
Chlorine - gas
Bromine - liquid
Iodine - non-metallic solid.
These substances are the most reactive elements in the periodic table. found in coloumn 18.
A2. But they are not considered metals. There are Amphoteric elements, but these are not halogens.
Halogens are found in group 17 of the Periodic Table, (not 18 which is the noble gases. )
Halogens are the chemicals found in group 17 of the periodic table; namely flourine, chlorine, iodine, bromine and astatine.
A halogen gas would be any of these elements in gas form or a gaseous compound including halogen elements (such as chloroflourocarbons, or CFCs, which used to be used in refrigerators - but since it damages the ozone layer they are no longer used).
no halogens are not metals as they are on the left side of the periodic table which appears to be the side of non metals they have tendency to gain electron

Halogens
The halogens are are the most active nonmetals. There're 5 non-metallic elements in the halogen family. The term "halogen" means "salt-former" & compounds containing halogens are called "salts".They are: Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine, Iodine & Astatine
The Halogen family.

halogens is a family!
It is a metalloid.
iodine is a nonmental which falls in the group elements called HALOGENS;chlorine, fluorine, bromine and iodine.
