Pure iron is soft and weak, but when iron is bonded with other elements like carbon, it becomes a strong, hard and durable metal. It can be made into steel (iron + carbon), which can be used for many things like cars, ships and cutlery (stainless steel).
Hope i helped :-)
An iron ion is an iron atom that does not have an equal amount of protons/electrons. Therefore, ions carry a charge.
In elemental form iron is made of atoms just like any other element. When it forms compounds however it is in ion form.
There are 26 protons in the nucleus of an iron atom. The number of neutrons will vary depending on which isotope of iron we consider. And there are 26 electrons in a neutral atom of iron.
2+ and 3+ ions of iron are the most common.
Fe2 or Fe3
A cation is an ion with a positive charge. Ex: Iron(III) ion, Ca2+, Mercurous ion
the positive ion A+
why is an iron ion attracted to a sulfide ion but not to a zinc ion
Both the iron ion and the zinc ion carry positive charges while the sulfide ion carries a negative charge. Like charges repel each other, opposite charges attract each other.
The hydroxyl ion is not a positive ion but rather a negative ion. The hydroxyl ion or anion is also known as hydroxide.
An iron ion and a sulfide ion have positive and negative charges respectively, and they attract each other. But having positive charges in both, iron ions do not attract with zinc ions.
Cesium is a negative ion.

The total positive charge of the cation, which is the iron ion in this case.
the positive ion A+
why is an iron ion attracted to a sulfide ion but not to a zinc ion
Na is positive ion,Cl is negative ion
