Are you sure it is a "d" and not a "p"? Because a "p" would mean that it was "plumb" gold, or in other words, the gold it contained was exactly the carat listed. IE: 14K does not have to contain 14carats of gold, only a certain percentage has to be 14%.
The "925" stamp inside a ring indicates that the ring is made of sterling silver, which is 92.5% pure silver. The "D" stamp could be a maker's mark or a designer's mark indicating the manufacturer of the ring.
The number 375 on a gold chain indicates that the chain is 9 karat gold, meaning it is 37.5% pure gold. The remaining composition includes other metal alloys to strengthen the gold.
The mass number of Gold is 197.
No, gold is not considered a transition element. Transition elements are the d-block elements in the periodic table, while gold is a representative element in the s-block.

Are you sure it's not UNO A ERRE? I've just been reseraching a pice of white gold jewellery with this mark on it and at first I took it to be UND A ERRE but on closer inspection it looks like an "O" rather than a "D" but a bit squared off. UNO A ERRE is a major Italian goldsmit and jeweller according to Wikipedia.
I have another one white go,d wirh diamonds ans inside the same inscription: JC 750
14 KT refers to the purity of the gold, in this case it's 14 Karats. As for the D's it isn't a common mark on gold so I can only assume that it is the makers mark.
There were five landing beaches on D-day which were all given code names. Gold, Sword, Juno, Utah and Omaha.
