"Which is true of a liquid?" Blimey! were do I begin. Unlike a solid block of ice, liquid water will fill and take on the shape of the container it is placed in. Without the confines of a container, the water would simply flow off the table and onto the floor (water finds its own level). Another fact about water is that when you heat water (to brew a cup of tea (Sorry, I'm English! and tea rules)) the water will also expand. But, when water is frozen, it will also expand in the water pipes and split joints and pipes (causing burst water pipes when the thaw arrives).
