You can use indicators (liquid or paper). Universal Indicators (UI) are the best, as with them you can tell if something is acid, neutral or alkali, depending on the colour (there will be a colour indicator). However, you can also use red and blue indicator, but they are less accurate, as although they might be acid (or alkali), they might be neutral as well, so I suggest you use UI.

Hope this helps :)

What is the difference of litmus paper and a pH paper?

pH.paper tells the strength of an acid and alkali and litmus paper tells that whether the substance is an acid or an alkali.

What is indicat?

Universal indicator changes colour in acids and alkalis. Its colour shows the strength of an acid or alkali. strong acid= redweak acid= orange / yellowneutral= greenweak alkali= turquoise / bluestrong alkali= deep blue / purple The strength of an acid or alkali is shown on the pH scale of numbers.

Disadvantages of litmus paper?

What is the pH scale of the strongest Alkali?

The strength of an acid and alkali is shown using the pH scale which goes from 0 to 14 . pH number of acid is less than 7. and pH number of alkali is greater than 7. that's why the smaller the number the stronger the acid and the larger the number the stronger the alkali. so pH of weak acid is 6 and pH of strong alkali is 14 because if the smaller number shows the stronger acid, the larger number shows the weaker acid. And as larger number shows strong alkali, the pH scale is from 0 to 14; so 14 shows stronger alkali.

What would be the reaction of a litmus paper to an acid?

It turns red, alkali will turn it blue. A better alternative would be the univerasal indicator which also shows how strong/weak the acid/alkali is
