It depends on how long you're in contact with the heat source/how long your skin is at that temperature.: at 113 degrees you get a 3rd degree burn after 5 hours at 116.6 degrees, after 45 minutes at 118.4 degrees, after 20 minutes at 120, after 10 minutes at 124, after 4.2 minutes at 131, after 30 seconds and at 140, after 5 seconds. All temperatures are in Fahrenheit.

What change in pressure occurs in a party balloon that is squeezed to one-third its volume with no change in temperature?

The pressure of the balloon increases threefold when it is squeezed to one-third its volume with no change in temperature. This is because pressure is inversely proportional to volume according to Boyle's Law, which states that when volume decreases, pressure increases.

Should you put peroxide on a second degree burn?

I have a second degree, possibly third. This happened on July fourth while lighting 3 sparklers at once! Really bad idea! After several days the fluid from the blister on my finger leaked out. I removed the skin left from the blister (which I was told you should NOT do! ) I was told by my mom(she is an RN) to clean with soap and water, apply burn cream( I've been using neosporin) then cover with a sterile bandage. Well I decided I should try cleaning it with peroxide. That was a horrible idea! It burned really bad! It caused a small blister on the raw area of the skin. I rinsed it off immediately and held a towel against my finger till it stopped burning! I had always thought peroxide was good for burns/cuts. I suggest nobody use peroxide on a second or third degree burn. By the way, Do NOT let the burn area dry out. This can cause it to crack and lead to infection!

At what temperature do you start to get third degree burns?

There is no one specific temperature that will cause one to suffer from third degree burns. This is because the severity of the burn is not only dictated by the temperature of the heat source, but also how a person is exposed (i.e. directly or through cloth) and how long the heat is applied. Even lower temperatures can cause third degree burns if a person is subjected to the heat for long enough. As a general guide, any temperature above 140 degrees will cause immediate third degree burns.

When a patient is said to have third-degree burns this indicates that the patient has burns that cover approximately one-third or more of the body When a patient is said to have third-degree burn?

Third degree burns means all layers of the skin have been burnt through. In first degree burns only the topmost layer of skin (epidermis) is damaged so it will regenerate easily. In second degree burns both the epidermis and dermis are damaged but healing can still occur. Third degree burns won't heal without a skin transplant. When grading how much of a body is burnt it's usually done in % of total skin.
