chemical energy--->light energy
CHEMICAL energy converts to heat energy. The magnesium simply oxidizes very rapidly. The result can be either magnesium nitride or carbon dioxide, depending on whether it's burned in air or water.
Mg + O2 ---> Mg2+ + O2- ---> MgO
The oxidation numbers of pure Mg and O2 are 0. During the reaction, the Mg is oxidized to a +2 oxidation number by the loss of 2 electrons, and O2 is reduced to a -2 oxidation number, as it gains the 2 electrons.

It is a chemical change.
This is an oxidation reaction (combustion, burning).
When Magnesium burns, it is actually combining with oxygen in the air to form a new compound, magnesium oxide. If we were to carefully weigh a piece of magnesium before and after burning it, you would see that its weight increased by about one third. For example, if you start with 100 grams of magnesium, after the burn you would end up with about 130 grams of magnesium oxide. The fact that the magnesium oxide you create by burning is powdery, means that it takes up more space (size or volume) than the solid magnesium did. The energy given off by burning a matchstick is mainly in the form of heat and light. The heat is a result of the exothermic combustion reaction that occurs when the matchstick is ignited, and the light is emitted as a by-product of the combustion process.
It occurs naturally in limestone. - Fiddy
None of them Chemical energy stored in the battery is converted into Electrical (with some heat / thermal 'wasted'). However if you recharge a battery you would get electrical to Chemical.
