That is what is known as an aqueous solution.
Hypotonic solution has the highest concentration of water molecules.
You can say LOL
i think its diluted but there are other names
Osmosis is a process. It does not contain anything. This process is triggered by the unequal concentrations of water, i.e. if a solution with high concentration of salt in it is bordered with a solution with low concentration of salt (if a solution is water it can be considered as 100% water solution, if it is, for example, 5% sugar solution, it can be considered as 95% water solution). So, water molecules move to the side with lower water concentration. Impertant: for only osmosis to happen, the wall between two solutions must be permeable only for water molecules. If it is also permeable for other substances they will also try to equalize their concentrations on the both side by move to the side where their concentration is less, and THIS IS CALLED diffusion.
Answerdiffusion- movement of molecules from higher proportion to lower proportionosmosis - movement of water molecules from a more CONCENTRATED solution to less concentrated solution
Diffusion is a process in which solute molecules move from higher concentration towards lower concentration. While in case of Osmosis, the water moves towards highest solute concentration in a semi-permeable membrane.
The concentration of an acid or base is usually given as a quantity with a unit mol dm^-3 where the mol stands for mole and dm=1/10 metre. 1 mole contains 6.022x10^23 atoms or molecules. The value representing the concentration of an acid or base shows the number of acid/base molecules found in 1dm^3 of the solution. The rest of the solution will typically be H20 molecules (water). This basically means "how strong it is".
A water solution that has the same salt concentration as the cells is said to be is isotonic.
Osmosis. A solution with a low concentration of solutes would have a higher concentration of water than a solution with a high concentration of solutes. So in this case, water is moving from a higher concentration of water to a lower concentration of water, which is osmosis.

the molecules will pass from the salt solution to the cells.

It is called an isotonic solution. If the salt concentration is higher, it is called hypertonic and if lower it is called hypotonic.
The same way that air influences the shape of a balloon. When the cell is in the proper environment water enters the cell and it is the proper shape. When the solute concentration outside the cell is too high the water leaves the cell and it shrivels.
Diffusion is the movement of molecules from the area of higher concentration to the area of lower concentration i.e.along concentration gradient . Osmosis is the movement of water across a semi-permeable member from a solution of lesser solute concentration to a solution of higher solute concentration .
As water molecules are smaller than either Sodium or Chlorine molecules, osmosis is favoured in their leaving the cell into the salt solution. Therefore a living cell shrinks in salt solution.
Concentration of water molecules is higher in pure water
An isotonic solution is one in which the ionic environment is similar to that of the cytoplasm. Hence, when a cell is placed in an isotonic solution, there is no net diffusion of water into or out of the cell. The cell remains intact.
