Stride gum's story began on a predictably cold day in February 2005. A research document making its way around the factory indicated that people had resigned themselves to the short life span of gum. Stride's lead scientist, Bernard Lock read this report enraged. He knew America deserved better.
Walter Diemer invented bubble gum in 1928 while working as an accountant at the Fleer Chewing Gum Company. It took him about a year of experimenting to create the formula for a successful and long-lasting bubble gum.
Bazooka gum was invented in 1947 by the Topps Company. It was named after the bazooka projectile weapon used during World War II.
So there could be another flavor of gum. Some people wanted to chew gum that tasted like mint, so they requested it to a company, they made mint gum, and it got really popular, so all the gum companies made them.
It is thought that the ancient Greeks were the first people to chew gum, which they made from resin from trees. Modern gum was invented by Walter Diemer, who perfected the recipe to make bubbles.
