There are three major forms of fossil fuels , Coal, Oil and natural gas. All three were formed many hundreds of millions of years ago before the time of the dinosaurs - hence the name fossil fuels. The age they were formed is called the Carboniferous period. It was part of the Paleozoic Era. ''Carboniferous '' gets its name from carbon, the basic element in coal and other fossil fuels. The carboniferous period occurred from about 360 to 286 million years ago. At the time, the land was covered with swamps filled with huge trees, ferns and other large leafy plants. The water and seas were filled with algae - the green stuff that forms on a stagnant pool of water. Algae is actually millions of very small plants. Some deposits of coal can be found during the time of the dinosaurs. As the trees and plants died, they sank to the bottom of the swamps of oceans. They formed layers of spongy material called peat. Over many hundreds of years, the peat was covered by sand and clay and other minerals, which turned into a type of rock called sedimentary. More and More rock piled on top of more rock,
Petrochemicals are primarily derived from petroleum, which is a type of fossil fuel. While some petrochemicals can be derived from coal through coal gasification and coal-to-chemical processes, the majority come from crude oil.
Coal can be converted to oil . The South African's during the years of Apartheid, when they suffered a trade embargo on oil, developed the industrial process of converting coal to oil, viz. SASOL. South Africa has millions of tons of coal that can be mined.
Coal is to oil as mine is to minerals. Both coal and oil are fossil fuels extracted from the earth, just as minerals are extracted from mines.
Coal and oil are made up of carbon that was once in living organisms, primarily plants. Over millions of years, these plants were buried and subjected to heat and pressure, leading to the formation of coal and oil deposits. The carbon in these fossil fuels represents stored organic matter from ancient life forms.
Coal tends to be cheaper than oil because coal is more abundant and easier to extract from the earth. Additionally, coal production costs are generally lower than oil production costs. Supply and demand also play a role in determining the price difference between coal and oil.
coal and oil come from many different places. Like coal from mines. oil from the ground.
comes from the burning of coal gas, oil..

coal, oil, water.
Coal is less expensive than oil and will be more plentiful in years to come
Use water and coal. :D
Coal AND Oil
1. Oil 2. Coal 3. Natural Gas...
AUstralia get most of its energy from coal. Most of it comes from coal and oil produced locally
they both are made using natural gas and come from either mines or out of the ground
The three main fossil fuels are coal, oil and natural gas
Natural GasCoalOilMethane Clathrates (methane/water ices)
