alkaline pyrogallol will still absorb oxygen with or without germinating seeds. There is a common chemistry experiment were the percentage of oxygen is determined by mixing pyrogallol and base sodium hydroxide which forms the alkaline pyrogallol. Don't ask me why and how the mechanism is still not clear to me.

What gas is absobed by the alkaline pyrogallol?

Oxygen gas is absorbed by alkaline pyrogallol. The pyrogallol reacts with oxygen to form a compound called purpurogallin, which causes the solution to turn brown.

What is the color of alkaline pyrogallol solution?

It's colourless. When it absorbs oxygen from the air, it turns purple. It can be used in this way to calculate the amount of oxygen in air. colourless → + oxygen → purple (just an example, not a proper format)

Is oxygen alkaline?

No, oxygen is a non-metallic element and is not considered alkaline. Oxygen is a component of the air we breathe and is essential for most living organisms for respiration.

How do you determine Carbon Monoxide Carbon Dioxide Oxygen and Hydrogen contents in a sample of producer gas by Orsat Apparatus?

In an Orsat apparatus, Carbon Monoxide is absorbed by a solution of potassium hydroxide, Carbon Dioxide is absorbed by a solution of potassium hydroxide and pyrogallol, and Oxygen is absorbed by a solution of alkaline pyrogallol. Hydrogen is typically calculated by the difference in the volume of the sample gas before and after the absorption process. By measuring the volume changes in the different absorption bulbs, you can calculate the percentages of each gas component in the sample of producer gas.

What oxygen absorbing chemical?

An example of an oxygen absorbing chemical is sachets or packets containing iron powder, which react with oxygen to form iron oxide. These are often used in food packaging to extend the shelf life of products by reducing oxygen levels.

In proximate analysis pyrogallol is used for analysis of which element?

its answer is oxygen because pyrogallol absorbs oxygen so used to measure amount of oxygen in any substance

Pyrogallol acid method for anaerobic condition in lab?

The pyrogallol method involves using pyrogallol to remove oxygen from a closed system. Pyrogallol reacts with oxygen, creating a vacuum that can help create anaerobic conditions. This method is commonly used in laboratories when working with oxygen-sensitive materials or to create anaerobic environments for certain experiments.

What is the chemical that gets rid of oxygen during an experiment?

alkali pyrogallol

What chemical absorbs oxygen during germination?

Heme-containing proteins, such as myoglobin and hemoglobin, are chemicals that can absorb oxygen during germination. This process helps fuel the metabolic activities that occur during seed germination.
