Lead can be extracted from lead oxide through a reduction reaction. When lead oxide is heated in the presence of carbon (typically in the form of coke), carbon reduces the lead oxide to produce lead metal and carbon dioxide gas. This reaction allows the lead to be separated from the oxide compound.

Aluminium is mainly extracted from Bauxite, which is Aluminium oxide(Al2O3). Iron is mainly extracted from Hematite, which is Iron(III) oxide(Fe2O3). Some other minerals of Iron are Pyrite(FeS2) and Magnetite(Fe3O4).

i don't know the word but lead can be extracted from lead oxide (i did this at school) by putting the 'oxide into a test tube, then putting that test tube over a Bunsen burner ;) and waiting... and waiting... AND waiting THEN voila you have created the element of LEAD! :\ very boring but who cares? *this is the bit where I'm supposed to talk really fast* CAUTIONS! Bunsen burners are very dangerous ALWAYS have the safety flame on when you aren't using it! (the colour is orange) ALWAYS have safety goggles on!
