As the tree is closing down to nearly a dormant state in readiness for winter, it no longer requires leaves to provide 'food' for the tree to grow, so the tree slowly cuts off the supply to the leaves that then die, and fall to the ground and just like everything else they change colour.

How chrorophyll change the color in leafs?

Chlorophyll gives leaves their green color by reflecting green light and absorbing other wavelengths for photosynthesis. As leaves age and chlorophyll breaks down, other pigments such as carotenoids and anthocyanins become visible, leading to a change in leaf color during fall.

Is leaves changing a color in fall a chemical change?

Yes, the change in leaf color in the fall is a chemical change. This process, known as senescence, involves the breakdown of chlorophyll and the production of different pigments, leading to the vibrant colors we see in autumn.

When does the color change in leaves indicate a chemical change?

okay well acually the reason that the leafs change is because their are so many chemicals in that air that the leafs have an affect so than if the leafs cant riseist them somehow sometime they have to die like Savannah akaz GIRL FROM THE DEAD

What chemical reaction causes the leaf color change in fall?

The chemical reaction that causes the leaf color change in fall is the breakdown of chlorophyll, which is the green pigment responsible for photosynthesis. As chlorophyll breaks down, other pigments such as carotenoids (yellow and orange) and anthocyanins (red and purple) become more visible, resulting in the vibrant autumn colors.

Why is it a chemical change when the leaves turn different colors in the fall?

As plants receive less sunlight, they change color. They are green because they have a lot of sunlight and are able to produce glucose and other energy chemicals. The less sunlight they receive, the less chemicals they produce.
