How do you tell if metal is silver?

One way to tell if metal is silver is by looking for a hallmark or stamp that indicates its purity, such as "925" for sterling silver. You can also use a magnet: silver is not magnetic, so if the metal is attracted to the magnet, it is not silver. Finally, you can conduct a nitric acid test, where silver will turn a milky color when in contact with the acid.

You really messed up you used full-strength bleach to clean ceramic floor Now they are very dull and you are still trying to remove the smell Any suggestions?

To make it clean: Try scrubbing it with a mixture containing; the bleach you used and a cup full of water. If that doesn't work...buy another bleach! To remove the smell: Add any liquid scented soap to water and put a drop of bleach in...just a drop!! Thoroughly scrub the mixture all over the floor, now you will have a sweet smelling floor!

How do you separate a mixture of gold nuggets from iron filings and sodium?

The separation of gold from iron filings and sodium metal (a dangerous substance which will react with water in the air) could be done in two steps. Take a magnet and put it inside a plastic bag. Carefully and fully move the bagged magnet over the mixture, gently stirring it to insure the magnet can "reach" all the iron filings. When you are done, lift the magnet clear of the mixture, and you should have all the iron filings stuck to the magnet, which is inside the bag. If you carefully "invert" the bag, you'll then have the bag around the filings, which will still be stuck to the magnet with a layer of plastic bag between the two. Then just close the bag and remove the magnet. Your iron filings have been separated and bagged up. Now turn your attention to the gold and sodium mixture. Put them in a big heavy plastic container. If you *carefully* add water, you will get a chemical reaction. It is *critical* to put water in a drop at a time. (Yes, a drop at a time.) The sodium will react with the water and create sodium hydroxide, which is powerful base. It will also create a lot of heat, so you have to take all day to drop in the water so it won't melt your bucket. There will be some strong fumes, too, so take precautions. The bucket, because it is plastic, won't react with the sodium hydroxide. After you spend all day dripping the water into the mixture to react with all the sodium, you'll have a solution of sodium hydroxide with the gold in it. Strain this mixture and the gold will remain in the sieve. You'll need to wear a ton of protection to perform this evolution. Rinse your gold well to remove the traces of the sodium hydroxide and you're in business.

How can you tell if a silver ring is real?

You can check if a silver ring is real by looking for markings like "925" or "sterling silver" which indicate it is made of genuine silver. You can also conduct a magnet test - silver is not magnetic, so if the ring sticks to the magnet, it is not real silver. Additionally, you can perform a nitric acid test by applying a drop of nitric acid on a hidden part of the ring - if it turns a creamy color, it is likely real silver.

What happened to a semen if you drop in red or blue litmus paper?

If you drop semen on red litmus paper, it will turn blue due to its basic pH. If you drop semen on blue litmus paper, it will remain blue or possibly turn slightly more blue due to the alkaline nature of semen. Semen typically has a higher pH level, making it basic in nature.

Why should you not drop magnets on floor?

It might damage the floor, and it might damage the magnet.

If you drop a magnet it will?

If you drop a magnet it will hit the object under it

Why should you never drop a magnet on the floor?

It will lose its magnetic field. The vibrations made from the drop charge the electrons and make them move out of the line that they were in, this causes the magnet to lose its magnetism.

When you drop a magnet it loses some of its power to what object?

When a magnet is dropped, it loses some of its power to other magnetic materials in its surroundings. This can occur when the magnet aligns with the poles of another magnet or when it induces a magnetic field in a nearby object, causing it to become magnetized temporarily.

What might happen if you drop a permanent magnet or strike it hard?

A permanent magnet may become unmagnetized because a shock it will have.

Why might a permanent magnet become unmagnetized if dropped?

When a permanent magnet is dropped, the impact could cause the magnetic domains within the magnet to become misaligned, leading to partial or total demagnetization. The force and shock from the drop can disrupt the alignment of the magnetic domains, causing the magnet to lose its magnetic properties.

What will happenis you drop a copper ring around a magnet?

What demagnetize a magnet?

Drop it on the floor a few times.Hit it with a hammer a few times.Heat it red hot in the stove flame.Wrap several turns of wire around it and run a high AC current through for a while.

What is a scrapyard magnet?

a scrap yard magnet is an electro magnet used to pick up bits of metal. this is used because it can drop the metal because it can be turned on and off

When you drop a magnet into a bucket of sand the magnet has a preference of which pole hits first Has this something to do with cats?

YES it alternates their ovulating sequence!

If you drop a sponge on the floor, is the sponge dirty or is the floor clean?

To be completely honest it depends on if your floor is dirty or not. If your floor is really dirty then the sponge is dirty. but in order for your floor to be clean when u 'drop' a sponge you have to apply elbow grease to clean it.
