The acids in the Tomato Ketchup took off the dirt and mess on the penny.
It would never have occurred to me that this would work. If it does, it's probably from the acid content (vinegar and other organic acids).
Because it has salt and vinegar in it!
Independent Variable- The Taco Sauce Dependent Variable- How clean the penny gets....
Vinegar
yes
Independent variable: This is the one you're changing in the experiment, so it's the type of solution that you're dropping on the penny. Dependent variable: This is the one that you're measuring. In this case, it's how many drops you can get onto a penny without the water spilling off. Control variable: These are things that you keep the same throughout all of the experiments to make sure that your results are actually due to the changes in the independent variable, not some other random change you made. You used the same penny and dropper.
Place the coin in a solution of white vinegar and water. Check it in an hour or two and it should be shiny. or if that doesnt work try hot sauce the taco sauce and keep the coin it it for a few minutes

Vinegar
Ans1:The taco sauces helps clean pennies by killing the bacteria, with an ingredient found in most taco sauces, or hot sauces, called capsicidins (see link) which are thought to function as antibiotics. This may make the penny more sanitary. Ans2:Taco sauce often has vinegar (acetic acid) in the recipe. The reaction of vinegar with the copper compounds that tarnish the penny produces water-soluble copper acetate.

Fruit punch does clean pennies the best? You can't clean pennies with orange juice because it doesn't clean it.
