It is not economical compared with other sources of energy.

First of all molecular hydrogen (H2) only exists on earth in small quantities, so

you have to make it from other sources. Most generally this would be made from natural gas (mostly CH4). But 'burning' natural gas to make hydrogen for fuel doesn't make any sense, as the energy density (per volume at standard temperature and pressure) of natural gas is better than hydrogen so why not

just use natural gas in your device in the first place?

How is hydrogen an alterative energy source?

Since there are no significant amounts of free hydrogen, it should be considered more of an energy storage than an energy source. In other words, it takes energy to separate water into hydrogen and oxygen; you get that energy back when the hydrogen is burned.

What is the source of energy is used chemosynthesis?

The source of energy used in chemosynthesis is typically chemical compounds such as hydrogen sulfide, methane, or ammonia. These compounds are oxidized by bacteria or other organisms to produce energy for metabolism, in a process similar to photosynthesis but using inorganic sources rather than sunlight.

Is hydrogen a source of energy?

It most certainly is. I can get an engine to run on hydrogen. All that is produced at the tail pipe is water vapor and carbon dioxide. When hydrogen and oxygen combine and a ignition source is present, water is formed along with a powerful explosion. Oxygen and Hydrogen are very volatile and are dangerous to combine without a controlled environment. The interesting thing is that Oxygen and Hydrogen combine to form water. What do firemen use to put out a fire? Oxygen and Hydrogen or H2O. If someone can figure out how to release hydrogen from water cheaply, you could power a car off water.

Does hydrogen pollute?

Hydrogen itself is a clean and non-polluting energy source when consumed in fuel cells or used to generate electricity in a clean manner. However, the production and transportation of hydrogen can involve emissions depending on the method used (such as steam methane reforming). Efforts are being made to increase the use of renewable energy sources for hydrogen production to minimize pollution.

Which element is used in rocket fuel?

Liquid oxygen is commonly used as an oxidizer in rocket fuel because it can react with a fuel source to produce combustion. Another common element used in rocket fuel is hydrogen, which serves as a fuel source due to its high energy content and efficiency in combustion reactions.

Why is hydrogen an excellent energy source?

It isn't - there are no large deposits of hydrogen anywhere. Hydrogen can be used for energy STORAGE.

Does hydrogen have an energy source?

Hydrogen itself is not an energy source, but it can be used as a clean and efficient energy carrier. It can be produced through various methods, such as electrolysis of water using renewable electricity, and used in fuel cells or combustion engines to generate electricity or power vehicles.

What is hydrogen is most commonly used commercially for?

Hydrogen is most commonly used commercially to produce hydrocarbons organic compounds such as sodium hydroxide (NaOH).

Is Hydrogen a renewable or nonrenewable energy source?

Hydrogen is a nonrenewable source of energy when used for nuclear fusion (which is still not a technologically attainable power generation mechanism). When used as an energy carrier for oxidation (e.g. fuel cell, and internal combustion engine) hydrogen is not an energy source. In such applications, hydrogen is a man-made resource.

The element that is most abundant as an energy source on your planet is?

The element that is most abundant as an energy source on Earth is hydrogen. It is commonly used in fuel cells, which produce electricity through a chemical reaction with oxygen, and can also be used in combustion processes to generate heat and power.

Can helium be used as a type of energy source?

Helium itself is not a practical energy source as it is an inert gas and does not readily undergo chemical reactions to release energy. However, helium can be used in certain types of nuclear fusion reactions as a fuel source. Currently, research is being done to harness the energy potential of helium in fusion reactors as a clean and efficient energy source for the future.
