I believe the copper needs support with the zinc as a filler.
Copper is a soft metal.
Zinc and Copper Copper and zinc make up the mixture (alloy) brass.
Almost any metals can make an alloy. It is easiest if the metals have similar melting temperatures.
Brass is mainly an alloy of copper and zinc. Some alloys do have small amounts of arsenic added also.
Brass is made primarily of copper (which makes up about 60-90% of the alloy) and zinc (which makes up about 10-40% of the alloy). Small amounts of other elements such as lead, aluminum, and silicon may also be added to improve the properties of the brass.
The mixture of elements copper and zinc that make brass is called an alloy. Brass typically contains around 70-80% copper and 20-30% zinc, with small amounts of other elements added for specific properties.

To make beryllium copper alloy, beryllium is melted into copper, usually with a copper beryllium master alloy that contains a controlled amount of beryllium. The mixture is then cast into the desired shape and cooled to solidify, resulting in the beryllium copper alloy.
The metals silver, copper and nickel are elements. It is brass that is an alloy, and copper and zinc are what make it up.
Brass is an alloy. An alloy of 67% copper and 33% zinc
Brass, which is made from copper and zinc.

One common alloy used to make imitation gold is brass, which is a combination of copper and zinc. Another alloy used is bronze, made from copper and tin. These alloys can mimic the appearance of gold at a lower cost.

COPPER- alloyed with zinc it makes brass and alloyed with tin it makes bronze.

Brass is an alloy of copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn).
