Diethyl ether is polar. The center has a slight negative charge while the arms have a slight positive charge. Also hydrogen bonding can occur with the oxygen on diethyl ether.

due to its polarity, ethers are usually nonpolar and so are organic compounds. since "like dissolves like" ethers are great solvents.
