By heating you are adding energy!!!

Energy is needed to start a reaction ; it is called ther Activation Energy'.

If you use a Bunsen Burner in the lab. to heat reactants.. Then some of the heat is going in (endothermic) to start the reaction. The heat you feel from the Bunsen Burner is waste energy; it is not going in to start the reaction.

Remember ;

Bond breaking is endothermic (heat/energy to go in )

Bond making is exothermic ( heat / energy is given off) ;the reaction might feel warm., without any applied energy.

Other forms of energy that can be used in achemical reaction are ;- Electricity, Light, Sound, and Mechanical (stirring).

-to allow greater number of reactants to pass over the activation energy

-to compensate for the natural tendency of energy to disperse

-to increase the rate at which reactants collide
