Chemistry uses the Greek prefixes for moleclar geometries: mono-, di-, tri, tetra-, penta, hexa-, hepta-

Quad belongs to the latin series: uni-, bi, ter, quad, quin, sxa, septa.

Chemistry is not consistent however. In the nomenclature of organic molecules it switches from Greek- to-Latin: "pentane", hexane" (Greek) but"nonane" "decane" (Latin)
