I am presuming so that we can make it stretch out and last longer. And the ingredients to make it the lye vegetable fat is cheaper than the animal. Watch how its made that will answer your question too. with liquid soap more ingredients can be added to make better use. weather to stretch the money out that comes out of the consumers pockets or to make them pay for what its worth. If it is not worth buying than manufacturer has to start all over again before they loose money.
