Because universal shows how strong or weak a substance is. Litmus just shows if its Alkaline or Acid.
ps a 12 yr old wrote this.
A pH meter uses a probe and voltmeter to measure pH digitally. Universal indicator is a mix of indicators that change colour to indicate the pH of the solution. pH meters are accurate and will detect changes quickly, whereas universal indicator is slow to change colour to indicate pH change.
An Universal Indictator is more helpful because it shows the exact amount of acidity. Other indictators (example the red and blue litmus) just indicates whether or not the solution is acidic. The universal indicator gives you a specific color to which you can match a pH number therefore, telling you how acidic the soultion is.
When it is not mixed with any other solution, it is green. Green represents neutrality, so its pH is 7.
The universal indicator is better than the red cabbage indicator because the universal indicator has a wider range of pH that it can explain why a substance is acidic or basic. The red cabbage indicator only tests the substance if it is an acid or a base. Also, the universal indicators are made carefully and it is manufactured in a precise manner so the results are very reliable. Red cabbage indicators will vary in concentration which could cause errors to occur in determining the pH of a substance.
Universal indicator will turn green when an acid is mixed with an alkali. This green color indicates a neutral pH level which is achieved when the acid and alkali have neutralized each other.

No, not always. Some indicators are better suited for certain ranges; UI will provide a rough indication across a huge range, but other indicators can be more accurate across a small range, and this is when they are used.
universal indicator goes from yellow to dark red when put in an acid. there are many other indicators that all go different colours
but other cars uses the indicators how? but why we cant use the indicators

Yes, indicators are one or the other of those things.

Nothing, but red cabbage is a simple pH indicator at home (red in acidic solutions).
Neither one is better than the other. Man-made and natural pH indicators do virtually the same exact thing, just with different materials.
litmus paper and pH scale i am not sure about the rest :)
