1) pretty much any material can change state - if the conditions are right.

2) On Earth, with our temperature range and air pressure, water can exist in all 3 states ... although its mainly ice and liquid. The vapor pressure is low.

Is water evaporating from a pond a chemical or a physical change?

Evaporation from a pond is not a chemical change. It is a physical change. The water that leaves the pond and goes into the air is not changed from water into some other chemical compound. It's still water, but in the form of a vapor or gas. As the water doesn't chemically change, evaporation is a physical change and not a chemical one.

When a cloud forms in the sky is that a physical or chemical change?

A physical change; more water vapour has joined the cloud, making it thicker and less able to allow light through.

What is an example of a state of matter beside ice?

An example of a state of matter besides ice is liquid water. Water is able to exist in three different states - solid (ice), liquid (water), and gas (water vapor) - depending on the temperature and pressure conditions.

When antacid and water are mixed what kind of change occurs physical or chemical?

What cycles depends on the fact that water is able to exist as a solid a liquid and a gas on Earth The nitrogen cycle the water cycle the carbon cycle or the phosphorus cycle?

The cycle that depends on water existing as a solid, liquid, and gas on Earth is the water cycle. This cycle involves processes like evaporation, condensation, and precipitation, which are facilitated by water's ability to exist in these different states.

Does a change in state mean that a new substance has formed?

In a "physical change" a new substance is not created. In a "chemical change" a new substance is created. This applies to changes in states of matter. For example, ice, water, and steam are all the same substance, even though they exist in three different states. The elements of which they are comprised do not change. Sometimes you may be able to precipitate elements out of a substance through a phase change. In a mixture of alcohol and water you can fairly quickly boil out the alcohol.

How will you justify that ice and water and steam are different states of water?

Ice, water, and steam are different states of water because they have different molecular arrangements and levels of energy. In ice, water molecules are in a rigid and ordered structure. In water, molecules are more loosely packed and able to flow. In steam, molecules have high energy and are moving freely as a gas.

Can a physical change be reversed?

yes they can because if you freeze water that doesn't prevent you from being able to change the water back into its original state
