Great Question, weight can change as we define weight us stupid humans.... because when the gravity changes say if i were on the moon i would weigh much less than on earth but my MASS is the same because all of my particles that i had on earth are still there with me on the moon. Also my density didn't change so my mass would still be the same

When matter changes its state does its volume and mass change?

Mass cannot be created or destroyed, and will therefore remain constant even when matter changes its state. The volume, on the other hand, can change because volume is a state function (dependent on the state of the system). Mass is an intrinsic property of the system. Weight and mass are commonly used interchangeably but are actually two different concepts. Weight is the gravitational force acting on a body defined as W=mg, where g is the gravitational constant. On earth, g = 9.81 m/s2, and the correct unit of weight is the Newton. Weight also remains constant with state changes.

Would not exit without gravity mass density volume or weight?

Weight would not exist w/o gravity. Weight is defined as mass times the force of gravity acting on that weight. Mass is constant, density is constant, and volume is constant, if gravity is the only variable.

How does phase change effect the mass of a substance?

A phase change does not affect the mass of a substance because mass is a constant property of matter. During a phase change, such as melting or boiling, the substance's molecular arrangement changes, but the total mass remains the same.

When a substance is heated what happens in mass volume and weight?

When a substance is heated, its mass remains constant because mass is a measure of the amount of matter present, which does not change during a physical change like heating. Volume may expand due to thermal expansion, where the particles move farther apart. Weight may appear to change due to differences in gravitational force, but the actual mass remains the same.

When does mass equal weight?

NO. Mass is how much material an object contains where as weight is a measure of force exerted upon a mass. This is the meaning behind F=m*a. Weight is a force that is proportional to an object's mass times the acceleration of the object, usually represented by the letter 'g' for gravitational acceleration.

If you go on a diet do you change your weight or mass?

When you go on a diet, you are aiming to change your weight. Weight is a measure of the force of gravity acting on your mass, whereas mass remains constant and is a measure of the amount of matter in your body.

How are weight and mass diffrent?

Weight is the force of gravity acting on an object, while mass is the amount of matter in an object. Weight can change depending on the gravitational force acting on an object, whereas mass remains constant regardless of location.

Is the mass of a object equal to its weight?

No, the mass of an object is a measure of the amount of matter it contains, whereas weight is a measure of the force of gravity acting on that mass. Mass is constant regardless of location, while weight can change depending on the strength of gravity.

How would your weight and mass change if you were floating freely in space?

the weight reduces due to change in gravity but mass remains constant

Is your weight your mass or force?

Your weight is a combination of your mass and the force of gravity. on the moon your weight is less because the force of gravity is less, however your mass remains constant no matter where it is measured.

The weight of an object is the force of on that object and the mass of an object is the amount of matter in the object.?

Correct! Weight is the force of gravity acting on an object, while mass is a measure of the amount of matter in an object. Weight can change depending on the gravitational pull, whereas mass remains constant regardless of location.

The amount of substance in you gravity cant change this?

The amount of substance in an object, or its mass, remains constant regardless of the gravitational field it is in. Mass is a measure of the amount of matter in an object, whereas weight depends on the gravitational field strength. In different gravitational fields, an object's weight may change without affecting its mass.

Is An object's weight is always the same as its mass?

It is possible for objects weight's to change, while its mass remains constant.

Which one weight or mass is changed by gravity?

Weight is changed by gravity because weight is the force exerted on an object due to gravity, while mass remains constant. Mass is a measure of the amount of matter in an object, whereas weight varies depending on the gravitational pull acting on the object.

What is the difference between mass and weight explain?

Mass is a measure of the amount of matter in an object, while weight is the force exerted on an object due to gravity. Mass is a scalar quantity and is constant, whereas weight is a vector quantity and can change based on the gravitational force acting on an object.

What are the differences and the similarities between mass and weight?

Every object has MASS. Its weight is dependent on the Gravitational Field it is immersed in. Weight changes based on position in the Gravitational Field. MASS is constant as long as the object stays intact.

Why is mass more useful than weight for measured matter?

Scientists prefer to rely on mass instead of weight when measuring because weight will change depending on location, whereas mass remains constant regardless of location. You could weigh 60 pounds on earth, but 10 pounds on the moon, but your mass would be the same on earth and the moon.
