I'm assuming that you're asking why salt dissolves in water?

The electronegative oxygen atoms of water molecules solvate the sodium cations of NaCl (common table salt) while the electropositive (in comparison to oxygen) hydrogen atoms in H2O solvate the chloride anions. By such solvation, the Na+ and Cl- ions are separated and thus, dissolved in water.

Think of it as divide and conquer.

It is a soluble solid
