Inorganic salts increase the krafft temperature of SLS. If you perform the mixing with high salt concentrations and at low temperatures it will precipitate because of cristallization of SLS. Additionally, microvalent inorganic salts help SLS to form microgel domains.

In order to avoid precipitation try to perform mixing at high temperatures or add PEG. Solving long chain alkyl hydrophobes (branched hydrophobes will be more effective) can helps too but the best way is increasing temperature.

Is the solution of epsom salts prepared by dissolving magnesium sulfate heptahydrate in water is added to a solution containing sodium lauryl sulfate will a precipitate form?

Yes, a precipitate may form because magnesium sulfate heptahydrate contains magnesium ions which can react with the sulfate ions from sodium lauryl sulfate to form insoluble magnesium sulfate. This reaction can result in the formation of a white precipitate.

What 2 starting compounds you can use to precipitate calcium sulphate?

Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate heptahydrate) and calcium chloride (sold as DampRid).

Why does Epsom salt and baking soda form a precipitate?

Epsom salt and baking soda form a precipitate because obviously precipitation is what comes down of the sky so Epsom salt and baking soda form the precipitation and if this wasn't helpful don't call me a bad name because I at least gave you something. actullay its not that type of Precipitattion! this kind is when a new a new solid froms!

What happens when you mix epsom salt ammonia?

When you mix Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) with ammonia, it forms a white precipitate of magnesium hydroxide. This reaction occurs because the ammonia reacts with the magnesium sulfate, causing the magnesium to precipitate out as magnesium hydroxide.

Is glauber salt the same as epsom salt?

No, Glauber's salt and Epsom salt are not the same. Glauber's salt, also known as sodium sulfate, is a compound with the chemical formula Na2SO4. Epsom salt, on the other hand, is magnesium sulfate heptahydrate with the chemical formula MgSO4·7H2O. While both are salts, they have different chemical compositions and properties.

Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate heptahydrate and kosher salt is sodium chloride.

How are sodium chloride and Epsom salts the same?

Both sodium chloride and Epsom salts are types of salts. They are both crystalline solids at room temperature and can dissolve in water. However, they have different chemical compositions, with sodium chloride composed of sodium and chlorine ions, while Epsom salts are composed of magnesium and sulfate ions.

What is the differene between Epsom salts and table salt?

Table salt is sodium chloride, NaCl. Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate MgSO4.7H2O.

How are sodium chloride and Epsom salt different?

Sodium chloride is a compound of sodium and chlorine. Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate heptahydrate (MgSO4 · 7H2O), a compound of magnesium, sulfur, and oxygen with water trapped in the crystal structure.
