the tudors valued education, especially the poor who could not afford it, but the rich sent their children to school. the books they had were not as good as our ones today, but they had a "horn book" these werepeices of wood the shape and size of a tennis bat. On one side was the alphabet and the lords prayer, and the other side was plain, so they could practice their writing.
