We are not sure if it is real, Although to be lured by music and hypnotized by a pipe is very unlikely and getting rid of rat's with a simple tune? Well i for one believe that this is obviously fake, although a good tale.
The fairy tale you are referring to is "The Pied Piper of Hamelin." In this story, a mysterious piper is hired to rid a town of rats by luring them away with his magical flute. However, when the town refuses to pay him for his services, he uses his flute to lead the town's children away as well.
The pied piper was hired to get rid of rats that were infesting the town of Hamelin in the famous folk tale.

The term "pied" in the name "pied piper" refers to the character's multicolored clothing, specifically a coat made of different colored patches or "pied" fabric. This term dates back to the 16th century, derived from the Middle French word "pie," meaning magpie, known for its black and white plumage. The pied piper's distinctive attire is a key element of the character's visual representation in various artistic interpretations of the famous folktale.
In the legend of the Pied Piper, his family is not mentioned. The story focuses on his role in luring away the rats from the town of Hamelin and later leading away the children when he is not paid for his services. The Pied Piper's background and personal life remain somewhat of a mystery in the original tale.
He was named as the Pied Piper of Hamelin in the popular childrens' fairy tale. However, he didn't come from Hamelin, he arrived there to take care of the rat problem.

The Pied Piper is a somewhat disturbing and toned-down anti-war tale from a very pro-war nationality- Germany/ I never liked the idea.
Oh, dude, so like, back in World War II, the British government wanted to evacuate children from cities to keep them safe from bombings, right? And they named this whole thing "Operation Pied Piper" because, like, the Pied Piper from that fairy tale lured away the kids, but in this case, it was more about keeping them safe than leading them to a magical land. So, yeah, that's why they called it that.

That's from the Pied Piper. In the tale, the Pied Piper was called in to rid rats from the town, which he did by playing his pipes and luring them to their death by drowning. When he returned to the town for payment, he was not paid, and he took it out on the townspeople by again playing his pipes, this time luring all of the children out of the town. So, to "pay the piper" means to face the inevitable consequences of one's actions.[1]
Using poetry to tell a tale has its good and bad points. the only one I can think of that is a Fairy tale- as opposed to a plotted song like (Indiana Wants Me!) would be The Pied Piper of Hamelin. bad guy gets away with horrible crime. I never liked it for this reason alone.
