"Jack and the Beanstalk" is a classic English fairy tale About a Boy named Jack who trades his family's cow for magic beans. When the beans grow into a giant beanstalk overnight, Jack climbs it and discovers a land in the clouds inhabited by a giant. He steals from the giant, who chases him down the beanstalk. In the end, Jack cuts down the beanstalk, causing the giant to fall and perish.

The story “Jack and the Beanstalk” by Flora Annie Steel is a story about taking an opportunity when it comes. It begins when we are introduced to Jack the protagonist, and his widow mom. He is ordered to go to the market to sell their only cow but instead Jack trades the cow to a man for 5 magic beans. When Jack returns his mom is furious and throws the magical beans outside. When Jack woke up the next day, he discovered that the beans had grown into a huge beanstalk which reached a kingdom in the sky. There lived a giant and his wife. The action rises as the wife, a kind woman, gives Jack food when he asks for it and protects Jack by lying when the giant comes home saying that he smelled him and would grind his bones into his bread. That night Jack snuck into the giant room and took a sack of gold coins climbing the beanstalk back down. Living off the gold coins Jack and his mom lived comfortably for a while. Then again, Jack climbed the beanstalk, got more food and that night Jack took a hen that laid golden eggs and when he got home, his mom was very pleased with him. Then as the rising action continues, Jack goes up a final time and the same thing happens except this time as he tries to steal a magical harp, It cries out for help awaking the giant. The story reaches its climax when Jack decides to run away as the giant lumbers after him. In the falling action Jack goes to the house and grabs the axe and chops down the beanstalk, killing the giant. In the resolution, Jack and his mom become very wealthy and live happily ever after. The stories theme shows that when an opportunity comes, like a beanstalk that shoots out of the ground, you should always take that opportunity like Jack did to live a better life even after knowing the risks.
