The children likely saw Dr. Barnardo as a caring and compassionate figure who provided them with shelter, support, and opportunities for a better life. They probably felt grateful for his help and guidance in improving their circumstances.
They thought he was great and a hero to poor people. :)
Because he wanted children to have clothes, warmth, food and drinks.He didn't think it was fair for children to be on their own living on roof tops of houses.He thought that they should be looked after and not freeze or overheat or be so lonely.
