"Children of the City" by Amadis Ma Guerrero is a short story about a young boy named Victor. After Victor's father is killed while participating in a work strike, his mother remarries and leaves Victor to be raised by his older brother. From childhood on, Victor finds himself surrounded by corruption, danger, and deceit.
Amadis Ma Guerrero was born on Ermita, Manila on 1941 and graduated from both Ateneo de Manila (1965) and University of Santo Thomas (1959). He is a Filipino author of Philippine Literature. One of his story is "Children of the City" which won the "Palanca Awards" on 1971.
