She was just referred to as "the witch." In one adaptation she was called "frau (something)kinder". The word to replace "something" is the word for "dead" in German. Someone fluent in German please replace the "something" with the translation of "dead" from the German lanquage. The intent of the witch was to kill the kids and eat them. The children over power the witch and live to go home.
her name is gretchen

The witch's name in "Hansel and Gretel" is not specified in the original fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. She is simply referred to as the witch or the old witch.
shes an evil witch so in the fairy tale she wants to cook hansel to, you know..eat him. but i know that she used gretel as some-what of a maid, idk what the witch would do to her if she did eat/kill hansel.

Hansel and Gretel I think hope this helps x
Cause the witch had her brother caged up and cause Gretel was stupid.
Hansel is the big brother, Gretel his younger sister.
In the story Hansel and Gretel, the witch tells them to go into the oven. They say they don't know how and ask for a demonstration. The witch shows them how to bend down to crawl in and the kids then push her in and shut the oven door. She gets burnt, not baked.
