Naomi Irene Blatch was the youngest of ten children born to Mr. and Mrs Nathaniel Richardson of Hospital Lane. She attended Western Senior School under the headmastership of the late Mr. T. A. Thompson and was later transferred to St Francis Xavier's as a fee paying pupil. In 1927 she began teaching as a grade one pupil teacher at the Quarry Mission School under the headmastership of E.P. Roberts. In 1932 she successfully passed the Cambridge Junior Examination. She acted as head Teacher of Western Preprartory before she was awarded a one year scholarship to Tuskegee Institute after which she resumed duties at the Bluff in September 1940. She served as First assistant Southern Primary and Southern Senior School; Head teacher at the new Southern Preparatory School, and Acting Head teacher of Southern Prep II after passing the Professional Examination for Teachers. She became the Head Teacher at Southern Prep No, III where she kept her post until she retired in 1970. She was rehired at Willard Patton Primary in 1981 where she taught the grandchildren of some of her former students. She died on July 1st, 2001.
