The book- one cannot vouch for comic-book adaptations, is essentially an animal cartoon written in novel form. It was written in l905 or thereabouts. The main characters, the Rat, Badger, some other small animal ( maybe a mole) and Mr. Toad who is clearly the ( top dog) of what amounts to an all-male animal social club. There are no female characters in the stories- and it has been widely excerpted for use in readers, etc ( I have only been exposed to isolated chapters-but there are no girls or love interestss) this brings up the possible charge of Homosexuality. Of course, one could say the same about (The Little Prince) cleaned-up to normal gender interests-it was loosely the forerunner of (i Dream of Jeannie) though this was never formally acknowledged. The Prince is a Space Alien-not a supernatural being olike Jeannie.
