Why are nursery rhymes non fiction?

My theory is that it was the strength of the peoples/childrens ability/imagination to rhyme & reason of how they rationalised(numbed the senses, if you like) terrible/major events of the day, in some-way i thinked it helped them deal with it to invent rhymes about the events,,?

I'm no physcologist, but that's my theory,,,,SF.
