Yes it will crack. I think any and all concrete will crack. Maybe not enough to leak water but hairline cracks. Coat your pool with good waterproof sealant if leaks start.
As of my last update, the national average cost for shotcrete typically ranges from $10 to $15 per square foot, depending on factors like project size, location, and application type. This cost may vary based on additional factors such as reinforcement, finishing, and site accessibility. For the most accurate pricing, it's advisable to consult local contractors or recent market reports.
To repair a crack in a concrete slab, first clean the crack thoroughly by removing any loose debris or dust. If the crack is wider than 1/4 inch, fill it with a concrete repair caulk or epoxy filler, ensuring it penetrates deep into the crack. For smaller cracks, a concrete resurfacer or patching compound can be applied. Finally, smooth the surface and allow it to cure according to the manufacturer's instructions.
A concrete patio usually cracks due to heat cold. If it is to cold it contract and break. If it is to hot it will expand and break. Then water can seep into those cracks and freeze causing the crack to expand
The main cause is in cold climates water gets into a tiny crack and then freezes and expands causing the crack to get larger and then when cars drive on it it will eventually cause the top layer of asphalt to break off. In warmer climates the constant wear of vehicles and heat from the sun dries the asphalt and causes the top layers of asphalt to crack, which can widen from rain water. Little cracks like in drive ways are usually caused by roots which can cause cement to crack and break up. To read more see attached link.

No
The coldest temperature at which shotcrete can be successfully applied is typically around 40°F (4°C). Below this temperature, the hydration process can be negatively impacted, affecting the strength and durability of the shotcrete. Precautions such as using heated mix water or protective enclosures may be necessary in colder conditions.

A lean mix of concrete is a weak mix (ie. Gen 1 or C10 for example). As for how waterproof a lean mix is compaired to a shotcrete mix, it would depent on what mix of shotcrete is used. Generaly speaking, whatever mix of concrete is used if it dose not have a waterproofing agent in it (ie. Sika 1+ Waterproofer for example) it wont be that waterproof. But if you want a staight answer, I would say shotcrete would be more waterproof, only because it tends to be a stronger mix. Regards Colin, a concrete batcher for Tarmac.

Whether cast-in-place concrete is better than shotcrete depends on the specific application and project requirements. Cast-in-place concrete provides better control over the mix and allows for complex shapes and finishes, making it ideal for structural elements. Shotcrete, on the other hand, is often quicker to apply and can be more efficient for certain applications, such as in tunneling or for sculptural forms. Ultimately, the choice between the two methods should consider factors like project scope, budget, and desired finish.
